Virtual CISO

Senior security leadership that sets governance, ranks risk, guides spending and reports clearly to your board.

Security needs an accountable owner, not another report.

Many organisations have a capable IT team and good security tools, but no senior leader who links technical risk to business priorities, regulation and what the board expects. A Vectra vCISO joins your leadership team as that person. They define what good looks like and keep the security program moving. You get executive cyber leadership without the cost of a full-time hire.

  1. Step 1: Assess the current state

Look at how your business works, the threats you face, your controls, your compliance duties and how mature you are today.

  2. Step 2: Prioritise the roadmap

Agree the risks, actions, owners and budget, and a delivery timeline you can actually meet.

  3. Step 3: Govern with clear ownership

Set up the policies, reports, steering groups and decision steps that make people answer for results.

  4. Step 4: Improve and keep momentum

Track progress, reassess risk and adjust the plan as your organisation changes.

Understanding vCISO services.

What is a virtual CISO?

A virtual Chief Information Security Officer is a senior security leader who works with you part-time, as an adviser or as an interim lead. They give you leadership, governance, risk oversight and reports for your executives. You don’t need to make a permanent full-time hire.

Who typically uses a vCISO?

Organisations that need stronger cyber leadership, but not a full-time CISO. CIOs, CTOs, risk leaders and security managers also use one when they need more senior help.

Does the vCISO replace our IT team?

No. The vCISO sets direction and governance. They work with your own team and your service providers to make priorities clear and keep people accountable.

Can the vCISO present to our board?

Yes. Board and executive reporting is a core part of the service. It can cover risk trends, roadmap progress, major decisions and investment priorities.

Can the service help with ISO 27001, IRAP or PCI DSS?

Yes. The vCISO can govern and coordinate your compliance programs and draw on Vectra specialists. Formal assessment work still has to meet the relevant independence and accreditation rules.

How often does the vCISO work with us?

It can range from a monthly advisory session, to several days each month, to a more intensive interim leadership arrangement.
