ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management

The international standard for an information-security management system (ISMS). Certified by accredited bodies.

What it is

ISO/IEC 27001 sets the requirements for an ISMS - a risk-based, top-down way to protect information through policies, processes and controls. The 2022 revision cut the Annex A control set to 93 controls across four themes: organisational, people, physical and technological. Certification is widely accepted in Australia as procurement evidence, and often treated as equivalent to the CIRMP cyber hazard requirement.

Who it applies to

Any organisation seeking a certifiable ISMS. Common in financial services, SaaS, managed services and supply-chain-critical vendors.
