Identity Consultant

Identity Engineering & Implementation - Presales and Delivery

Start date: 15 February 2027

Role overview

This is a hands-on, client-facing role for an identity engineer with a consulting mindset, ready to grow their career in Vectra's Identity practice. It combines two key functions:

  • Presales Support - providing technical input in the sales cycle, building demonstrations and proof-of-concepts, and helping senior consultants scope engagements.
  • Delivery Consultant - configuring, integrating and implementing identity and access management (IAM) solutions such as SailPoint, Microsoft and Idira across clients' application and infrastructure landscapes.

This is not a sales role and carries no individual sales quota. You will work alongside senior consultants, Business Development and Account Managers, and will be supported by mentoring, vendor training and certification to build your expertise. You will report to the General Manager.

Key responsibilities

Presales

  • Support senior consultants, BDMs and Account Directors in client meetings and discovery workshops by providing technical input on identity solutions.
  • Build and run product demonstrations and proof-of-concepts for ISV identity solutions, in partnership with vendor presales teams.
  • Gather technical requirements, document client environments and contribute to effort estimates, solution designs and Statements of Work.
  • Contribute technical content to proposals and RFP/tender responses.

Delivery - Identity Implementation

  • Install, configure and implement identity platforms across identity governance and administration (IGA), access management, SSO/MFA and privileged access management (PAM).
  • Onboard applications and build connectors and integrations to directories, HR systems, cloud platforms and SaaS applications.
  • Configure joiner-mover-leaver (JML) lifecycle processes, provisioning and deprovisioning workflows, access request and approval flows, and access certification campaigns.
  • Implement roles, entitlements and access policies, including role mining support and segregation of duties rules.
  • Configure SSO and federation (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC), conditional access and MFA policies.

Delivery - Identity Engineering

  • Analyse and cleanse identity data, reconciling accounts and entitlements across authoritative sources and target systems.
  • Write scripts and automation (e.g. PowerShell, Python, Java or JavaScript) and work with REST APIs and SCIM to extend and integrate identity platforms.
  • Apply engineering practices including version control, infrastructure-as-code where appropriate, automated testing and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot integration and performance issues, and support testing, deployment, cutover and handover to client operations teams.

Delivery - Advisory

  • Help deliver identity maturity assessments and current-state reviews under the guidance of senior consultants.
  • Work with application owners and business stakeholders to define access requirements, approval processes and identity data ownership.
  • Produce clear deliverables - configuration documents, build guides, test plans and runbooks - and present progress to client teams.
  • Raise follow-on opportunities you identify during delivery with the account team.

Professional Development

  • Gain and maintain vendor certifications across the identity platforms Vectra delivers.
  • Contribute to the practice's reusable connector libraries, build templates and accelerators.
  • Learn from senior consultants with a clear pathway to a Senior Identity Consultant role.

What we're looking for

  • 3 - 5 years in identity and access management, systems engineering or a related technical role, including at least 1 - 2 years implementing IAM solutions, ideally in a consulting, professional services or client-facing delivery environment.

  • Hands-on implementation experience with at least one leading identity platform, such as SailPoint, Okta, Microsoft, Saviynt and Idira.

  • Solid understanding of identity lifecycle, provisioning, access governance, roles and entitlements, and privileged access concepts.

  • Working knowledge of identity protocols and directories - SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SCIM, LDAP, Active Directory and Entra ID.

  • Scripting and integration skills (e.g. PowerShell, Python, SQL, REST APIs).

  • Awareness of Zero Trust principles and of identity controls within frameworks such as the Essential Eight and ISO 27001.

  • A client-focused, curious and organised approach, with good written and verbal communication skills and confidence working with technical and business stakeholders.

  • Eligibility for, or an existing, Australian Government security clearance is an advantage.

Benefits

Competitive salary, flexible working arrangements, funded vendor and industry certifications, and strong training and career development opportunities within a growing cybersecurity business. This is a consulting role with a utilisation and presales contribution focus; it does not carry an individual sales quota.
