Pankind
Did you know that Pancreatic cancer is the 3rd biggest cancer killer in Australia in 2021? It is estimated that almost 4,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year alone.
Unfortunately, the Australian five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is only 10.7%.
What is Pancreatic Cancer?
Pancreatic cancer is cancer that originates in a patient’s pancreas. This type of cancer is not commonly noticed until it has already spread to other organs since its symptoms do not appear in its early stages.
Is there any treatment?
Aside from the standard treatments available today, such as surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and the like, there is still no direct and precise cure for pancreatic cancer.
A couple of months ago, we shared with our LinkedIn followers the latest developments for pancreatic cancer treatment. However, we still have a long way to go.
How can you help?
Aside from learning more about pancreatic cancer, we would like to offer our community an opportunity to participate in a challenge organised by PanKind dedicated to all who are fighting and have lost the battle against the disease.
PanKind is the only organisation in Australia exclusively dedicated to pancreatic cancer. They have invested over $7.6 million across 28 high-calibre research projects at universities and institutions, funding some of Australia’s top research talent.
Remember September
This coming September, we would like to invite you to take part in further helping our families and friends who are affected by Pancreatic Cancer. This initiative is to raise awareness and generate much-needed support in developing potent treatments for this cancer.
Get your workplace together and choose to either Give It Up or Move It, and remember a loved one while raising funds for life-saving pancreatic cancer research.
Give It Up – choose to give up sugar, alcohol, caffeine or all liquids besides water
and remember a loved one, raising funds as you go.
Move It – join us and stand with the 63 Australians who die from pancreatic cancer
every week. Simply walk 63km this September and help fund life-saving pancreatic
cancer research.
